When my dua pupu Fadzillah (who is getting married 6 weeks away from me) told me she finally booked a venue called Ace The Place for her wedding, I was, like "FUH. Kencang pe name" hahahahaha
I knew she's been looking for a spacious air-conditioned venue (that is located on the 1st level and allows onsite cooking... allows onsite cooking ok!!!) for her combined reception so this is the perfect venue for her. I remember I had some emails asking about venues in the North side but since I cannot track all of the emails, I'll just post a picture here, and you all you all yang find this venue worth a go, can consider it okeh!

This venue with a kencang name is actually a new CC in Woodlands that's been open for only two, three months... which means everything looks new and feels new! So if you're interested and have $3000++ to spare for venue, contact information here yo.
But if this is not your thing, then you can read this entry by Raihan and Sofia listing down possible venues for Singaporean Malay weddings, if you're looking alternative venues other than than the usual void deck, multi-purpose halls and community centres!
P.S. I remember reading her entry on this venue here and thinking "I'm so holding my wedding there!!!!!!!" but yes, as we all know, mak bapak will cakap stuff like "Ni tempat ape ni" "Senang ke orang decor and orang catering masuk" "Senang tak tetamu nak datang" "Senang tak orang tua nak datang" "Leceh lah nak buat kat tempat macam gini" HOOOMAIIIGOD takpe lah, kita buat kat Bedok je lah eh, you all jangan banyak songeh.
babe, i went down to ace the place to confirm my booking after they verbally informed me WHOEVER makes the full payment first will GUARANTEE get the place. so within 24 hours after the telephone conversation, we headed down only to be informed (by the same person who spoke to me over the phone) that someone else beat us to it!
ReplyDeleteso i wanted to confirm again, i ask if the person has made the full payment. but the lady officer told me that "it was a verbal confirmation. no downpayment had been done and it was done by another colleague". so i stood firm and told her that since i came all the way to make the full payment and wish to place my booking there and then, as explained over the phone, shouldn't i be given the priority? tapi mati hidup balik die cakap "that can't be done miss cause it won't be fair to the other person who has confirmed verbally. but the person said she will confirm by 1st june.. if she wish to take other CCs, we will release her booking and inform you?"
she even refused to pass us any application form to be filled even after we asked for it - to save us the trouble of going down again if the "other person" decides not to take ace the place. instead, she scribbled my partner's number and name on some pamphlet and we walked off thereafter.
about 2 weeks after that incident, a male officer called my fiance and informed him that the place is open for booking and we can proceed to make our downpayment. siow eh. after my fiance probed him, his explanation lagi tak masok akal. he said "oh your name has been in our system a long time ago, when you called ace the place".
to cut things short (k lah dah panjang melebar, ape yang short nye), we came across another CC around that area which seemed to offer a better and a more professional service and decided not to have the wedding there. but of course, maybe that was a once in a blue moon glitch and we happened to be the unfortunate pair to experience it! and indeniably, the place is really nice, the stage is huge and the entrance looks sleek with the glas doors. (oh fyi sikit, in order to rent the carpeted area with the glass doors as shown in the post, an additional charge of $1k is required. you may wish to not rent the space but the entrance will be at the side, which is slightlyyy squeazy).
so sorry to bore you with this al-kesah, just thought of sharing! :)
AS PER WHATSAPP!
Deletehahahahaha this is very good lah babe, i welcome all sharing so that other BTBs can know or learn from it as well - can make well-informed decisions that way! thank youuu banyak banyak for this tau, very useful thing to note :)))
I actually considered this but knowing my parents, everything wants to be near the MRT. -.-
ReplyDeletebuat kat MRT punya platform terus lah cakap dengan dorang :P
DeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteIts like 5-10mins walk(pending on walking pace)from kallang mrt to the said venue..Woots,love the set up..rustic/shabby chic wedding anyone?whahha.Kalau ader yang complain, standby bus chartered for the whole event ferrying them to the said venue than.Same with the old railway station, its open to rental.Moo$$lah wise not quite sure need to call SLA for enquiry for that.
are you talking about the old kallang airport? i wouldn't mind arranging all that but parents have this whole reluctance issue against things that are out of the norm. can't be bothered to go through that so gotta stick to the usual stuff :(
