The Post-Wedding Errands

So what happened after our solemnization, our sanding reception, our outdoor photoshoot and our dinner reception were over and done with?????

A whole lot of, uhm, administrative things happened! And by "administrative things", I meant these things lah actually:

Post-Wedding Errands involving Wedding Vendors

We had to make a trip down to foreign land (also known as Hougang lol) to return the gift trays to Ola Lola right after we came back from our 2D1N staycation (more on this in a separate entry!) because we promised them we'd return the gift trays on the following Monday - they had pengantins who wanted to use the acrylic gift trays for that weekend so they needed to start decorating right away.

Also had to arrange to meet our caterers to pay the balance payment and give them our post-wedding feedback. We ended up not meeting them even though I would have liked to catch up with Kak Aisyah and manager Fariq because we were just. too. freaking. TIRED. Only parents went, in the end.

But it was okay lah, because at least we were around when Bob and his Bonito By Bob team finished up their packing, and we could properly give them our thanks and wish Bob for his 18th birthday haha (Oh, and bye bye awesome bridal room, you were mega awesome while you lasted!!!!!)

Oooooh, we also had A LOT of leftover favours and dessert tier stuff so we had to pack them up and distribute to more people somemore!!! Whatever leftovers we couldn't distribute, we kept them for ourselves so we pretty much had macarons and pulut kuning for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next few days lah kan. Nasib baik berak tak keluar macarons and pulut kuning kat jamban.

Transfer of Barang Barang from Saliheen's Home to My Home
(And a little surprise from Starhub!)

Saliheen had to transfer all his stuff over to my parents' place after the wedding since that's where we're staying while waiting for our BTO flat to be ready next year!

Unsurprisingly, we had to buy a few things from IKEA because all the barang barang in my bedroom doubled in amount. Boohoo. And even though my bedroom is pretty spacious, we had to buy more storage and a table from good old IKEA to accommodate Saliheen's stuff seh. Even now, we're still struggling to keep things properly packed and stored away and might have to make another trip to good old IKEA to buy more stuff for the room!

But that's okay because guess what I recently got from Starhub?????

An IKEA gift card!!!

How timely is that kan?!

What happened: I had wacky mobile connection a few days before the wedding, which was reaaaaally frustrating because I had website links to check and double check! Emails to read, emails to send! Whatsapp messages to reply! Wedding preparation moments to post on Instagram!

Vented my frustrations on Twitter (via desktop) and was pleasantly surprised when a Starhub employee tweeted to me to ask about the issue I was having. He/she was really patient and helpful in addressing my issue and even though my mobile connection stabilized on its own the day after, I was pretty impressed with their customer service seh.

Next time got problem, no need to call their customer service and wait while being put on hold already... can just tweet tweet on the go to Starhub's official Twitter account at @StarhubCares!

I've been a huge supporter of Starhub from the first time I needed a mobile line so it looks like I am so going to stay as a loyal customer of Starhub. Got perks ma! Maybe next time they will give me a year's worth (or two) free supply of Starhub TV cable????? #tuahandasiapayangtahu hahahahaha.

Oh well, a Starhub loyal supporter can dream. But that said, I guess there was a good reason why my mobile connection became wacky a few days before the wedding, eh? Rezeki pengantin much??? :D

Honeymoon-related Errands

We went shopping for our honeymoon during the 4-day gap between our wedding day and our honeymoon and went absolutely BATSHIT CRAZY!!!!!

No pictures as evidence because we were too caught up with the shopping but believe me - it was, like, ALL kinds of craziness broke loose that day okay.

We really borong maha borong machiam the shops going to close down for a year lor!!! Guess that is what happens when you put a couple who have not massively shopped for two years in a bunch of shops together??? So kecoh.

It was so... buruk, to the point that the two staff at Marina Square's Ripcurl outlet (or was it Quiksilver?) we were at actually asked "You guys just got married and shopping for your honeymoon, is it???" hahahahahahaha. (My bridal henna was the "newly married" giveaway, obviously, but other than that, I would like to think it's because we had seri pengantin hahahahahaha)

Packing for our honeymoon was a pretty exciting errand but I shall leave details of that for when I write my entry about our honeymoon in a few entries to come. EH EXCITEDNYA NAK TULIS PASAL HONEYMOON HEHE.

Okay lah guys, now that I've gotten the boring yawn-worthy post-wedding errands and administrative stuff out of the way, I shall stop stalling (Yes, in case you didn't notice, I've been stalling lol) and I'll now start writing and publishing my vendor review entries already.

Let the thank yous and damn yous..... begin.

we choose you, oasia!

So happy we've confirmed our post-wedding staycation sampai I nyanyi keluar hearts!

Hehehe. Tapi itu emoticon aje ye kawan kawan, when I sing in real life, I will nyanyi keluar katak.

Nasib baik I decided to check their website before booking via Agoda, etc! Discovered price is more or less the same if we book directly with the hotel but at least direct booking boleh dapat their Weekend Savers promo - comes with 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners and unlimited internet access. Agoda, Asiarooms, Booking.com ni semua tak offer. So okaylah, swee.

You know, I was reluctant to book Oasia Hotel initially because their rooms seem pretty small + their location seems weird (don't ask me why I find a hotel situated in Novena weird heh) + surroundings macam nothing interesting gitu... but after reading positive reviews online + one of our own orang kuat telling us that she enjoyed her stay at Oasia Hotel, I gave in to my mat who insisted on booking Oasia Hotel because of the reason mentioned in my previous entry. So bahagia lah sangat budak tu sekarang.

Anyway, we'll be married by then! We! Us! Husband and wife! Who the heck cares about bigger floor area when we're going to stick right next to each other, right?! And who the heck cares about having "interesting surroundings" when we just want to chillax in private, enjoy each other's company and not even planning to step out of the hotel, right?! Hehehe.

In any event, even if we do decide to keluar jalan jalan or cari makan there's always Novena Square and Velocity and there's direct underpass access to Novena MRT from the hotel. (Or we can slowly jalan back to his place and pick up the car lol)

Oh, in case you're wondering where I would want to stay at for our post-wedding staycation - I was secretly hoping to go away to Sentosa because kononnya macam nak lari pergi island lain lah hahaha. Plus I really loooooved the accommodations that I've stayed at in Sentosa before - there was Amara Sanctuary Resort (Larkhill Terrace) for Elvy's bachelorette party and W Hotel Sentosa Cove for Shafilah's bachelorette party. Dua dua best!!!

I've also been trying to find a reason to stay at Siloso Beach Resort's Roof Garden Suite seh! Macam awesome gitu boleh santai santai at the private roof top bathtub while looking out to sea mehehehehe. (Padahal the sea view nothing much to look at pun ah haha.) Never had the chance before since hotel parties with my girlfriends selalu ada more then 4 people so everyone won't muat comfortably inside the suite - the room itself is quite small, I think.

OH. And don't get me started on Capella Hotel, please. Jambu ke ape sak itu hotel.

But I didn't dare push this idea on my mamat when we discussed staycations because I myself know it's silly to merantau jauh jauh masuk Sentosa after our wedding dinner. And the 1st day will already be ~wasted~ since we'll only be able to check in slightly before midnight.

Anywaysss~~~ Since entry ni boring and kosong takde gambar, I selitkan these lah eh:

EH CEPAT SIKIT LAH NOVEMBER. What you waiting for????? Deepavali is it?!?!?!

september be crazy

Crazy, crazy month so here's a quick, quick update on what's been happening!

Ever since September started, my mamat and I have been meeting every weekend to discuss and finalize all the nitty gritty details of our wedding and as exhausting (and sometimes frustrating) as it is, I actually find it really exhilarating to see everything start coming together!

We took leave last week to sit down and discuss our ideas and expectations with the two lovely ladies of Dessert Artisans and the two great gentlemen of Kasai Sayang separately, and I've been texting with the super nice liaison person for Puteri Wedding Services fast and furious to pester him ask him about the floor layout lah, tables and chairs lah, ini lah itu lah...

(Why cannot just dump all the vendors into one Whatsapp group chat and let them sort out their requirements amongst themselves ah haha)

Have also sorted out some stuff with our wedding emcee, the awesome Zan Sofiyan from Medialite - he cracks me up with his bersahajeness sometimes!

Anyway! One thing that's been bugging us to no end is the projector and screen issue for our dinner reception - we were supposed to get the projector and screen from our venue but sekarang..... aku pun dah malas ah nak cakap eh.

So now we're going to source them out on our own - asked our videographers CST for contacts but didn't get the answer I wanted, asked Medialite but their contact charges at a whooping $500 for laptop, screen and projector. Thanks eh geng, $500 boleh kasi 35 orang makan kat majlis aku sak. Sungguh tak worth it, considering we're only using it to show a 5-minute wedding highlights video to our dinner guests. If we can't find a cheaper reliable alternative, we might just end up paying that extra $500 though :/ (This is what we mean by last minute extra payments!!!)

Have also emailed Compass to apply for permit to play music during our wedding, and booked a minibus for a 2-way trip from Million Bus so our orang orang kuat, MUA and photographers don't have to worry about driving to and fro our venue and photoshoot location on the day itself. Woohoo, super yay to clearing all the minor details out of the way!!! (Ingatkan boleh cari chance ambik one of the sweet rides from Kombi Rocks but tak make sense ah bayar anything more than $100+ for a transport arrangement of this nature)

Oh, we've also asked for a change in the colour of our cushions - XOXO & Co recently launched their new black chiavari chairs as well as new coloured cushions... got new cute colours!

Luckily dorang ada new colour that can match our colour scheme hehe :D

Next week will be particularly exciting period for us too - heading to Ishq by Nora Zee's boutique next Thursday for our fitting!!!!! Still undecided whether I should take half day leave so I can go home, rest and wash up first. Kalau pergi terus dari office nanti takut penat. And bacin.

Then next Saturday will be spent accompanying my bridesmaids to Manja to collect their bridesmaids' outfits (I hope you are all excitez, girls! Adalah requirement untuk bridesmaids aku to be excited about such things eh) before running through the itinerary with them.

On Sunday pulak, we'll be attending a friend's wedding before sending our barang barang dulang over to Ola Lola... we be heading to Hougang, y'all!!! I think the last time aku jejak Hougang, primary schools masih pakai PETS coursebook sak.

My mat and I are also trying to settle our post-wedding staycation by this week - I think we've pretty much decided on Oasia Hotel but it's just a matter of whether we can take up their Weekend Savers promotion... already emailed the hotel so we're hoping for good news. Hehe best kan staycation! Kirakan warm up for two, three days before flying off for our honeymoon gitu :D

Oh, simple reason as to why we decided on Oasia Hotel by the way: It is very near to Saliheen's place... kes kalau buat standing broad jump tiga kali dah boleh sampai kind.  Tak bedek! (Okay lah, bedek sikit lah, kalau buat standing broad jump tiga kali dari rumah dia, at most boleh lepas rak rak kasut dia je ah hahaha)

The reason why we want to be near his place: We'll be bundling up and storing all the barang barang from the wedding (e.g. gift trays, barang dulang, etc) at his place right after the wedding so once that's done, his dad can drop us off at Oasia Hotel without having to drive too far or for too long. Kesian bapak pengantin, nak rehat jugak after the wedding kan!

And since we need to go to his place after we check out from the hotel to angkat his barang barang and baju baju to be transported over to my place (since we'll be staying at my place while waiting for our BTO to be ready in 2014), it makes sense to book a hotel that is near his place ah.

Well... that wasn't such a quick update after all, was it? HAHA.

You know, I really kesian everyone on my social media feeds who have had to endure influx of wedding-related Instagram pictures and tweets from me for the past few weeks!  Promise all of this kahwing madness will be over in six and a half weeks, korang.

Can't believe two years of Kahwin Khronicles will be coming to an end, eh?
