pretty in pastel (part III)

A little bit of pastel inspiration for our pastel lovin’ friends!

(Sambungan from pretty in pastel part #1 and pretty in pastel part #2)

I don’t know why but I particularly like the combination of pastel pink, pastel blue and pastel yellow when it comes to pastel colours! I think it is very sedap dipandang mata but still not tooooo boring sampai boleh buat akak terngantok dan terlelap dan tertido.

Ok guys, ape kata kita tengok how the pastel pink + pastel blue + pastel yellow combination looks like on an actual Malay wedding!!!

This is from the lovely, lovely wedding of Malaysian blogger Nanarez who got married November last year! In case you’re wondering, Nana and her mother DIY-ed the pelamin and decor themselves lah ok. How bloody awesome is that!!!!! Haiz bila lah aku akan jadi talented and creative enough to DIY bendealah bendealah ni semua dengan tangan sendiri eh.

50 shades of pink

Looks like I’ve found the colour scheme that I want for our wedding decor!

My mat and Nani dah happily approved the scheme and I’m a happy camper! :-D

I’d love to care and share tapi I think we should keep the more-or-less confirmed items to ourselves because macam tak shiok lah kan for our guests who read this space kalau dorang dah tau the concept/colour scheme way in advance!

Plus, it will still depend on what our decorators have to say (whether they can pull it off + mana tau they might have certain constraints that we do not know of + takut tak kena dengan colour of wedding venue – I am especially concerned with this!) so I’ll keep what we’ve decided on as #1 choice first, but will continue to source for more ideas as back-up.

Plus plus plus, some trends, some ideas, some things might change and evolve in the course of 15 months so we shall keep it under wraps for now.

And yes yes, I know, some other people lagi five, six months dah nak hold the majlis tapi masih belum decide what colour scheme and all abeh aku kat sini sebok dah choose ape colour scheme aku nak for aku punya wedding. What to do, akak ni memang jenis suka blaze down the expressway to the highway.

**********

In the course of trying to find the colour scheme that I like and getting inspired by moodboards after moodboards after moodboards, I’ve noticed that the main colour that usually gets included in the ones that I like is… wait for it… wait for it… PINK.

Which is really weird lah! Because, well, I’m okay with pink, and I quite like it, but it’s not exactly high up on my favourite colours list. But since it kept appearing in the moodboards that I liked, I decided ok let’s try and go with it.

Tanpa ku sangka dan tanpa ku duga, aku berjiwa Barbie rupanya.

See how pretty shades of pink (and its cousin, purple) can be!

If I do go with pinks and purples for my wedding decor, I’ll only like it if the pinks and purples are in miniscule amounts, though, so must jaga jaga the amount. Too much pink might make it too sickeningly sweet, don’t you think???

I once went to a wedding exhibition and a vendor did top-to-toe wedding decor setup in varying shades of pink and seriously my mata lagi sikit nak lompat out of its sockets and terjun diri. Tooooo much pink for my liking! And tooooo bright! Cannot cannot cannot. If that was my wedding decor, my mata sure koyak rabak seh. How to duduk atas pelamin like that kalau pengantin mata koyak rabak?!?!?! Tak cantik nanti our wedding pictures.

And pink-loving Barbie and Ken would have disapproved jugak ok. Their cute little wedding had lots of pinks but tak excessive sampai kena gadai mata segala.

red + yellow + blue

Now I very gatal macam nak consider primary colours as wedding colour scheme segala.

I first learnt about primary colours when I was slightly less than 4 years old, I think – as a young girl, I used to go for art classes at APAD (Angkatan Pelukis Aneka Daya) and I can remember the teachers there drilling the concept of primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours into our little heads.

[Fun fact: My mum gave birth to my second sister when I was in one of my APAD classes. I remember my dad yanking me out of class and rushing to the hospital with my barang barang art supplies segala]

I enjoyed going to art classes back then ok, it’s a shame I had to stop going after I entered secondary school – mana nak juggle 10 subjects in school, mana nak handle 2 CCAs, mana nak layan BGR problems and raging hormones, mana nak balance social life of a anak metropolitan teenager baru nak naik, mana nak study for class tests lah, mock papers lah, exams lah, mana nak pergi Sunday religious classes lah… haiii mana lah ada time and energy for weekend art classes.

If you don’t know what are primary colours, this colour wheel chart should do the trick:

Dorang kirakan macam datuk nenek and moyang of all the colours in the world ah.

Ok! Something to start us with:

Hmm… macam boleh make it. Let’s run it through with my mamat and see what he says (Probably something ridiculous and takde makna, as usual)

Not something that we’d consider for our main decor colours though, since we’re not big fans of pastels. But that doesn’t mean I cannot share pretty pastel moodboards/weddings when I see them kan???

Sooooo pretty! Ah, boleh consider ah gini!
